Run On Payments for Universal Credit

Hello,
I hope everyone is enjoying the Easter break. I would like to know when is the best time to make a claim for Universal Credit to get the full payment of Employment and Support Allowance in the legacy benefit 2 week run on? I have read some people on this forum say they get it a few days after applying and it's not the full amount which seems a cop out. Why can't they pay it on what would be your next pay date? I would be greatful for some advice as my Migration Notice deadline is not until 15th July but I thought I might apply earlier. Thank You for any advice.

On the forum we usually advise making a UC claim the day after an ESA payment.
This usually means your final payment is a full one, although it's not guaranteed to arrive on the "right" day.

Thank You for your reply. Can I also ask if I need a Prescription during my 5 week wait, if I pay will I definitely get my money back? I know it sound silly but I heard an MP in Parliament say his constituant was finding it difficult to get a refund or something. They were refusing them a refund. It might just have been their individual circumstances but I thought I would just ask.

Yes you need to ask for a FP57 receipt when paying, after your UC statement comes through you can take them both into any pharmacy for an immediate refund.
The criteria for UC & free prescriptions is here:

OK Thank You. I didn't know you could go to a Pharmacy and get a refund. I thought you would have to apply or phone the NHS. Nice to know something is still straight forward. Thank You

There is a further form at the pharmacy when you seek the refund, but as these things go it's still fairly straightforward!
