Hi @sophie84 and a warm welcome to the community!

I would assume that because already over 70 and on an indefinite PIP award that the proposed pip reforms shouldn't affect you😊

hi Sophie I’m 80 with disabled hubby and was worried when the news broke about PIP and would it affect us but it does seem to be working age being targeted saying they are helping them get into jobs they can manage . It’s still worrying for those who would struggle though and Don’t feel they could cope . There’s not been much detailTo put worried minds at rest . I hope you get some kind help People are very nice here x

I presume that you are on a 10 year award?

I presume that you mean that you are on a 10 year, light touch award?

The rule change of requiring a 4 pointer in care will be hopefully starting in 2026 - next year. But for those that are already claiming PIP the 4 pointer rule will come in at the next review.

I too am on a 10 year light touch award, granted in 2019. The next review for me will be no later than 2029. Currently I am 76 so will be 80 when the review takes place.

I did not get any 4 pointers - just 7 lots of 2 pointers. So on that basis I will lose the care element of PIP at the review.

My own fault to be honest as I only put forward arguments on the original claim form to get the lowest number in every one of the ten categories - 'requires the use of an aid'. I should have put more info on the form to more accurately show how/what I have difficulties with and why. In addition I refused to disclose a serious mental health issue as I was fed up of explaining what happened, the treatment I receive etc.

I looked at the DWP not believing anything that was the truth of the matter with what I claimed so took the 'easy' option and told them either nothing or reduced what my real needs are.

But then at 80 I may no longer be alive to care.
