I need help with my council house that is not suitable for my son who has autism. They gave us a maisonette on the 2nd floor and our garden is is downstairs my son loves to be in the garden all the time and it's not easy for me to stay in the garden with him all the time I have 3 kids and little ones are twins it's already so hard for me. We have no privacy in the garden neighbours kids come to our garden and my son doesn't like that also if he sees a toy or car of neighbours child he would sit on it like it's his own and thn neighbours kids start crying for their toys once he broke someone's toy it's very stressful for me and the stairs he doesnt like going up the stairs he cries alot he just wants to stay downstairs but my house is on the 2nd floor and theres no lift or anything. is there a possibility that council would help us relocate somewhere where we can live downstairs and have a private garden just to ourself

You can ask them. Or you could ask your son's support or social worker or school, or your own GP to ask on your behalf.

Professionals usually have an idea of how likely a move is.

Also, sometimes, local councillors are able to help.

    Good luck.

Hi @Asia188, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear your housing situation is so difficult for your son. Girl_No1 has made some good suggestions so far. You could try speaking to the housing department at the council to see if a move would be possible.

If you're having difficulty, a local councillor or MP might be able to offer some advice and support.

Do you have any support from social workers at all?

Hope you can find some solutions soon.
