Hi, my name is emmj31! Am I eligible for childcare on Universal Credit?

hi there,
I am getting multiple different answers from Google and no one is currently responding in my UC journal and the phone line are giving me different answers as well.
I receive universal credit, and also receive limited capability for work and work related activities, I’m a single mum with a 9 month old. My health has taken a decline and so I was hoping to get some childcare.
However am I eligible for help with child care costs through universal credit if I am not working currently?
(I am also self employed) but haven’t worked in a while and for me to get to a place to work I need some time to get myself back on track health wise.

Hi,
Sorry but I don't believe you are currently entitled to childcare costs at the moment.
The rules for this are quite clear. You either need to be in paid work right now. Or starting paid work within the next month.
