Hello all,

I am looking to connect with anyone born with Spina Bifida who's also had a stroke.

I had my stroke 2 months ago and I feel like I'm experiencing some after affects that are completely unique and would like to chat to anyone in the same boat. 😊

I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I didn't get any notifications that someone had replied to this post . ❤️

Physically, I'm getting there (as my OT likes to remind me stroke recovery is not linear and that's the most frustrating part).

My mental health has been absolutely trashed by the stroke and that's the worst part for me - grieving my old life whilst trying to accept this new and strange person I barely recognise is tough.

I have been referred to the Neuropsychology team within the stroke team (who have all been brilliant) and I'm just waiting for my appointment now.

I am also going to see my GP as before my stroke, I suspected I may be neurodiverse, but since the stroke all of those traits have been turned up to 11 and are quite hard to manage, so I'm going to see about an Autism assessment.

My dog is keeping me relatively sane, though. 😊

hi im 48yrs old and replying to the lady who has spina bifda and post stroke, i to also have spina bifda and had my stroke in 2022 and have and still undergoing lots of tests spina bifda never had any problems with until the stroke
