Can someone please explain the process?

I'm so confused and don't know what I'm supposed to do. I got the migration letter and had to make a claim by July 4th. There was no instructions on what to do, and no advice anywhere. So I spoke to my therapist who told me to call Age Concern. Rang them, they told me to call CAB. So I rang them and she went through a lot of 'advice' but to be honest, I was so scared, I wasn't sure what she was talking about. Terms such as 'transitional payment' and 'roll on' and something called the 'assessment' etc. She then told me that when I make my claim, to call them, and they'll be on the same line as I was.
So 23rd April I rang again and was given a different woman who went through everything (again, she spoke like I knew all the terms) so I listened, then asked if she would come in with me. She said yes, then rang the place. I got a lovely woman who basically took all my details and secret answers etc. Then she spoke to hubby who did the same thing. Then she said 'someone will ring you in 2-3 days' and that was it. So I said goodbye and looked at hubby as if to say, is that all we do? He's as confused as I am.
Anyway, that was 23rd and we've had no phone call. My claim is different to other people (I think) so I'm not sure what I need to do next?
My information: I was claiming ESA income related, in the support group. Hubby was on my income related ESA and claimed Carers allowance. His name's on the Housing Benefit and my name's on the Council Tax. I get reduced council tax because of disability. I also have a two bed house but don't pay bedroom tax because we use both rooms. I also get PIP standard on both. I was told because I'm completely housebound (not left my home for over 30 years) someone would have to come to my house to verify my ID. I don't have any ID at all. Apart from my bank card and utility bills in both mine and hubby's names. I have a birth certificate and marriage certificate. Hubby did have a provisional drivers licence but that ran out a few years ago. He doesn't have a birth certificate as he lost it years ago but his name is on council tax letters, housing letters etc.
What am I waiting for now? I have nobody to get any info from and don't want to ring CAB again because I'm useless on the phone and my head will go blank. Hubby's even worse than me. Neither of us understand any of this. It's so frustrating and scary. Am I right in thinking, someone will ring me and ask for ID, then they'll send someone to the house (I don't understand why if they're getting me to send copies of what we have) is that to check we're real people who live at this address? Or is it to see our ID? If that's the case, why do they need to call me? Because my case is different, will it take longer than most? What am I meant to live on until my claim begins? Is this the 'advance'? Do I pay rent and bills with that? And if I do, what am I meant to live on? Based on my post, can anyone tell me what happens next please? I'm so scared and don't know what to do. Why they have to change us from something we've always lived on. This has caused me so much anxiety over the past few days, I've not left my bedroom and made myself ill. Please help! Thanks x
