Hi, my name is Tobe123! Anyone else been discharged without notice in a sneaky way?

Anyone else been discharged without notice in a sneaky way? I thought it was a yearly review. There were 3 on them in the room and I have trouble sometimes communicating.Never seen the Psychiatrist before.Id asked to go in on my own as care Co didn't have much awareness when I was struggling or having symptoms. Not even given that.He said we don't want people becoming dependent, I'm not.I rarely ask for help even if my symptoms are bad yet they expect you to.So there saying that and then saying we'll you've not needed the crisis team.Thats because I wasn't given a care plan and had no phone numbers to call! Discharged again without a care plan which came in the post 3 days later and was a load if lies inc that I'd agreed to it.I wasn't even there to do it.Same thing happened with this trust a few years ago I was left with no help got worse and the police ended up sectioning me.The people who are supposed to supposed you in my experiences often don't.So I'm left with no support apart from my gp despite not going out, struggling with daily things, Having no close realative near by.Yet this government think people with mental health issues are overdiagnosed and intend to stop them getting any pip.

Sadly this is way too common. It’s their way of cutting waiting lists. I was discharged in much the same way and for the same reasons just over a year ago.

Hi @Tobe123 that's really disappointing to read you weren't provided with an after care package. Is it possible to contact them or your GP to push for something to be put in place? I'm sorry you're having to do this - It's probably the last thing you need right now.

It is awful. My GP was cross about it too, they discharged a lot of her patients at the time but there was nothing she could do about it. It threw me into a spin at the time but I’ve acclimatised now - they were pretty useless anyway and generally caused me more distress. Now I take the view that I wouldn’t willingly be re referred to them. I’m lucky to have an amazing GP who I know will always back me and I get some support from a local community garden.

Thanks for your words.Im not happy as the care plan I got in the post was pretty much not accurate and actually said I'd agreed to it.I was not feeling stable since about March and told them.this too I have called IRS and told them.how I'm feeling and they said they were referring me to the cmht I don't particularly want to see those people again they discharge people when not ok to do so I think.I think they will just deny the new referral from the IRS.

Sadly I'm the complete opposite, they won't ever discharge me. I've been well now for nearly 2 1/2 years and been stable. but with my condition I don't think I can ever get discharged. I've been under the mental health team now continually for 16 years and had loads of different care co-ordinators. I think at this point I'm going to be under the service for the rest of my life. I do still hear voices though, but its just noise at this point, like someone whispering in the next room and can't make out what they're saying.

Yes, I too have had care plans in the past that bear little resemblance to what has actually been said/has happened. Mental health support is broken. I used to see a psychiatrist, have a care coordinator, a support worker and access to a day centre open from 9am - midnight every day (bank holidays included). Now it’s all gone. We’re all left to muddle along the best we can

It's very strange and unfair yes.Ive been with them on and off for about 15 years and always thought longer term/life conditions you had a say in the matter. This new team I was with say they don't want people to be dependent, then say its policy, then make out if you've not had a recent crisis your ok, all **** and excuses really.I agree going from having support to nothing at all is difficult.

Rubin16 you must at least be with a good Trust.

Yeah my team isn't that bad, I get visited twice a month by my care co-ordinator, and see the psychiatrist every 6 months. But apart from that I don't really use the service. The only time I've used them in 2 years was to do my bus pass application and that was it, I've not needed them. I also have a support worker who visits me twice a week and checks if I need anything, I also have a social worker and an STR worker who takes me places or shows me how to cook different home cooked meals. I don't know if things are different for me becuase I have autism as well or not but theres never any signs of me actually getting discharged from the service. I would love to get discharged and become independent but I don't think that will ever be the case as I'm classed as vunerable and pretty much can't do anything without the approval of my team first.

I see. Thanks for that, it seems they are taking good care of you.If you want they might reduce contact sometime.😁
I would have been OK with at least yearly Psychiatrist reviews as I still take antipsychotics which as far as I know the GP can't change.

I was with secondary care for over 25 years, then we got a new psych and it was bye! I’m on antipsychotics too so goodness knows what happens if they ever need changing

That shows how some.are not understanding or even kind the way they go about discharging people.I hope your keeping well.
