Winter fuel

Just heard don't know how true but labour saying if they reverse winter fuel have to take 15 billion from welfare I actually really believe they want us all to have civil unrest

I was actually thinking last night could this mean that to make up for the money they'll lose by U-turning on the WFPs that they'll be even harsher towards us?

I'm am raging it's horrendous what they are doing it's like thier playing with us who knows this could all be part of the plan reform come in so starmer makes out he has no choice to go harder talk about overwhelming it's sickening what we have to suffer

Cutting the winter fuel payment is expected to save approximately 1.5 billion a year.

And this 1.5 billion a year will cost many Labour MPs their own seats, including Wes Steering who's parroting the nonsensical "going further and faster" of Starmer, as he got elected with a slim majority of just 528 votes! For sure, he'll lose his seat at the next GE.

can the MPs not do a vote of no nonfidence to get starmer out?

I read there's no one to take his place ? Also fraud bill has been passed I just have no words anymore

I don't trust any mp
They are all rich and liars and don't give a thing about any of us

In the grand scheme of things it is such a small amount. I would not have thought it was worth all the upset it has caused.
It was mentioned on the doorstep in the Local elections and cost Labour. Saying it has gone to the NHS impresses no one.

I wonder if this includes savings on pension payments for those who died from the cold?

If things are really bad, can I become prime minister?

yh notice on day kendell says pip cuts going ahead and a unions protest today i prey this doesn't satisfy the mps and we are forgotten

I haven't heard what Kendal has said but in all honestly I think there will be another huge back lash and they will find it extremely hard getting these cuts through when they are spending billions on other things the public don't support.

As you said @egister, I also wonder how many poor pensioners died from the cold or endured freezing conditions in their homes last winter. Starmer announced today that he wants more pensioners to receive the WFA, but he has not confirmed whether it will be reinstated for all.
Pensioners will have to wait until the autumn Budget to find out exactly who will qualify for the payment, and it may not be extended to everyone. The government is expected to consider factors such as September’s inflation figures before deciding whether all pensioners, or just a few more poorer ones who do not receive PC, will be eligible.
He seems to believe this will appease the backbenchers who have been raising concerns about the recent WFA cuts and wider welfare reforms. But in my view, Starmer is seriously misreading the mood of both his backbenchers and the public.
People will not forget the hardship, mental anguish, and uncertainty they have endured (and are still enduring with these proposed welfare cuts) since he came into office. Even if he changes course now, I still don’t believe people will forgive the Labour Party.
