edited May 7 in Universal Credit (UC)

Hi,

I got my last Income Related Employment and Support Allowance payment on 1st May. I applied for Universal Credit the same day. When will I get my 2 week run on of Employment and Support Allowance? Will it be on 15th May 2 weeks after as I made my claim on 1st May? Also I paid for a Prescription yesterday got an FP57 form and was just wondering if I was still eligible for free prescription and treatment during the run on period? If so when I get a refund, do I still tick box 11 for Income Based Jobseeker's Allowance? I am worried I have done something wrong. Thank You in advance.

    Hello Silver925.

I can really empathise with your experience here. I had so much anxiety over the transition to UC from ESA (support group). I'm not an expert or advisor, but based on my experience the run on payments occur automatically. I believe I received these payments two weeks after applying for UC. In addition, I went into my local council the day after applying for UC and they told me there was nothing I needed to do with them, that it would all happen automatically. If it's helpful, I have also written a general post with some of the things I found out in transitioning to UC.

In terms of the prescription, if you are transitioning to UC from ESA with a Universal Credit Migration Notice Letter, have not had a change of circumstances during the transition, and you will have take-home pay of less than £935 a month (all UC benefits do not count towards this) then you are eligible for help with NHS costs, here's the link on the NHS website Help with health costs for people getting Universal Credit - NHS. It's worth noting there can be variations on this depending which part of the UK you are in.

Hope that helps a little to reassure you. If in doubt, you can also speak to the Help to Claim service at the CAB, which I found very helpful, here's the link for that here:

    Hi,

Thank you for replying. After I claimed UC I put in a change of Circumstances with Housing Benefit and Council Tax as a requirement to let them know. I received generic emails HB said to upload UC statement when received. CT said just keep on paying as normal and what to do if I don't hear after 28 days. My prescription I paid for got FP57 form but then later read you are still covered during run on period. I just wondered if when I get refund I still need to tick IB JSA as I could still get refund but didn't think run on payments counted as still being on IR ESA.
