Self employed and lcwra and debts offset?

hi I’m wondering if your self employed and have a debt management plan and earn say 9k can you pay 8k off your dmp and offset your up deductible by it so you would only be deducted 1k from your up payment and any element you have like work allowance? Also would this work if you earned 25? K and payed off all your dmp and left like 1k to be deducted? Regards

Hi @Lostsoul13 sorry you've not had a response to this yet. The way I interpret what the Government states here - Self-employment and Universal Credit - GOV.UK is that it is based on earnings at the end of the assessment period if you're self employed and not remaining balance. I hope you've managed to get on ok if you've dealt with it now.
