I’m currently in the process of migrating to Universal Credit. Even after answering all the ID questions correctly, they’re still asking for more evidence. Because I suffer from agoraphobia i'm in the support group, I can’t visit the Jobcentre, so they’re sending an ID officer to my home.

It’s frustrating that disabled people are made to go through extra stress—you’d think the process would be made easier, not harder, for those with health conditions.

Sadly this is caused by the few people who 'play the system' and make a false claims. Because of them, places like the JobCentre need to be very careful when confirming ID now. That makes it much more difficult, potentially even impossible, for the most vulnerable claimants. The worst part is it doesn't even seem to stop the actual criminals!

Yes, I understand they need to make checks. But I really believe that people with health conditions shouldn’t have to go through added stress. The person I spoke to on the phone even said they could tell I was genuine—so it feels frustrating to still have to prove myself again.

If they stopped ID'ing people with health conditions then the false claimants would just pretend they have health conditions to get away without ID. I understand it's frustrating, there are many services that I can't access myself because of this, but it's not the fault of UC or the government, it's the fault of the fakers who ruin it for the genuine claimants.
