in Universal Credit (UC)

Hi i migrated from ESA income to UC and my first payment is due on the 17 june 2025 as you know there is a 2 week run in on ESA and housing benefit which will be 24th may 2025 will i get my rent back dated as i applied on the 13th may 2025 for UNIVERSAL CREDIT ? will this be backdated on UC I AM RATHER WORRIED ABOUT THIS AS I HAVE NO MONEY please let me know ? many thanks

    Your rent will be backdated, but because UC is paid a month in arrears once the payment arrives your rent account will be 3 weeks in arrears.

    Many landlords ask for a payment plan, a little extra each week until the arrears are cleared. Then each UC payment puts your account into credit.

    If you are struggling financially until your first payment you can ask for an Advance payment. This is a loan which will be paid back via deductions from your UC award.
