Hi all

So a year after I filled in a form I got asking me if I still warrant pip I got a text saying I've an upcoming reassessment based on maybe not giving enough evidence.

I'm a bit overwhelmed with anxiety about it as I'm terrible on the phone and always make mistakes/brain fog etc no matter what I write down I never put across what I need to.

My Dr has written me a letter that I've sent and maximus have contacted my Dr so basically I'm relying on that. Bit worried about if ask about my living situation as helping family even though I have my health issues. I scored 10pts 5yrs ago for not able to travel to unfamiliar places. I guess I just have to do it and expect the unexpected

Regards

Tumilty

@Tumilty you may have given enough information and they just want to clarify a few points. Try and stay calm.

Albus_scope stated in another thread - There's nothing to panic about, what they ask really depends on your conditions and what you wrote in your initial form. Usually they just want to clarify parts that you've written, or ask any follow up questions. It's also a good time to mention anything you may have forgotten. I always like to have a list of important things I need to mention, in bullet points. It will save you from forget something.

Set yourself up before the call in a quiet room with your notes etc. You can ask for a break if it is getting on top of you.

You don't need to tell them you help family, just concentrate on you and your disabilities. Best of luck!

I wish I had a copy of what I wrote. I guess it will all come back to me via the questions.

Just worried that I have a flat that I'm hardly there because I'm too anxious to be alone in it. I'll just have to play it by ear and go with it in the moment.

    Many thanks for your words.

Oh @Tumilty, I'm sorry you're dealing with all this at once. Just do what you can on the phone call and try not to beat yourself up afterwards if you don't get your whole point across. They've got your form too and your doctors letter so hopefully everything will come together towards a good result.

Hope it's all over quickly 💛

Since it has been that long to get your assessment, you could write or call PIP to see if you can get a copy of your form you sent in. I would do that in your case!

Don't worry about your flat, you stay elsewhere because of your condition.

I have seen your latest post on ESA, concentrate on one at a time. If PIP is first, concentrate on that!

Keep calm if you can and relax a bit!

@Trevor_PIP yes I am concentrating on pip at the moment although my reassessment is next Thursday so doubt I could get a copy in time.. I always worry but it's taken time to make me think when I'm catastrophising its just in my head maybe not reality for everything. Especially in mornings.

Yes I doubt the preceptors for pip have nothing to do with where I stay.

I'm thinking of stuff to write down. I guess it's stuff I can and can't do physically or mentally.

I guess it's just better to go with it and expect the unexpected.

Yes, write things down like that and how hard it is to do other things. Just have bullet points that will remind you if that will work for you.

Yes @Trevor_PIP bullet points I'll do. Not sure whether to mention I'm also struggling to cope with helping family. But I'm looking at points I got from my mandatory reconsideration award five years ago. Things like being prompted and unfamiliar places which I got 10 points for.

Thing is, nothing has changed but I can't recall what I put in last years letter apart from my history of psychiatrists and self harm.

    Regards

I wouldn't mention you are helping family. Just discuss you. Yes, looking back at you MR will help you to remember what you put down on your latest form. Write down why you earned those 10 points, your disabilities and what you can't do and why. Think about what you will have written on the form you sent in and have notes ready for your assessment. You know your disabilities, so have notes about them and what you can't do and why.

    Is your assessment this Thursday?

Hi yes it's this Thursday 9am, I'll do notes and bullet points but I'm very anxious on the phone so reading notes whilst listening will be hard, maybe all can do is play by ear as all I can do is answer what they ask as you say I know what I can't do. Usually physical things because how my anxiety and depression affects physical things.

You can ask for a small break while you gather your thoughts or the assessment is getting on top of you too.

Ok thanks, just a quick question, should I ask if they have my Drs letter that I sent? I was expecting to send it with paper form until realised it was telephone reassessment. I had to call maximus for an address to send it to.

My Dr told me that they contacted her too.

Yes, definitely ask if they have your Doctor's letter so you know they have it. It's good your Doctor was called too.

Best of luck for tomorrow, keep calm and hope the assessment goes well!

    @Trevor_PIP and @Mary_Scope

Can't believe it. Lady called she sounded relaxed, her voice relaxed me only for her to tell me that the healthcare professional isn't available so she's calling to rearrange my appointment to Wednesday June 4th.

Been building myself up for it, they don't realise affect it has 😔
