Making temporary housing safe

hi

Anyone here live in temporary housing with carpets full of dirty bacteria and not helping with allergies and COPD with an ill child?
wanted thoughts experiences of which how to go around making the most of what I have and making it safe and healthy for me and the next person to get this place after me

    Hi @em86rry, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear your housing is affecting you and your family's health.

    Could you perhaps ask to have the carpets cleaned? If you were placed in the accommodation by the council they may have a handyman or local contact that could help clean the carpets for you.

    If you're able to do it yourself or have someone you know that might be able to do it for you, you can often hire a carpet cleaning machine. It can cost around £50 for the machine hire and carpet soap so I can understand if that's not an option for you.
