Hi, my name is Bluew0lf!

Hi I'm in the middle of a universal credit review and did not realise you had to declare savings even if they were under the 600 nor did I know that anything left over after the assessment cut of date is then added to savings which is confusing add to the mix my meagre wages and pip for my partner are all paid on the day of the review so I've been over the amount of 6000 a few times I put a deposit on a car 2 weeks ago and I'm scared I'm depriving myself of capital I'm scared to spend any money at all now and that I might be done for fraud its really getting me down

Hi @Bluew0lf and a warm welcome to the community!
For Universal Credit, any money you have on the last day of the assessment period counts as savings even if its under £6,000 before, so wages and benefits paid that day can push you over the limit.
Spending money like your car deposit isn’t fraud as long as you’ve been honest about your finances. It's best to try to keep clear records and explain the timing when you communicate with UC next😊0
