To be expected from the Torygraf.. Soon to be sold off
"
Telegraph Media Group is currently owned by RedBird Capital Partners, which agreed to acquire it for £500 million (approximately $674 million) in May 2025. This acquisition marks a significant investment in U.K. print media and aims to expand the group's digital operations and subscriber base."
And possibly become a MAGA outlet..
RedBird has an - well informative profile on Wiki
The articles author is Pro Brexit. Pro genocide in Israel, and all for scrapping the NHS..
What I would describe - in my journalist terms a 'nasty piece of work' or 'dangerously delusional'1 -
The good thing is she's being called out in the comments.
The "article" is merely a bitter right-wing rant, and is devoid of facts, stats., etc. to support the rant.
Even the minimal "facts" she states are being surgically dismantled in the comments.
Most people, including me, believe there is an element of p!ss-taking where disability benefits are concerned. However, we realise this is not the norm. The comments on the article reflect this view too - no system is foolproof when someone is intent on fraud, and our benefits system is such a system.

When I was in London last month, the Telegraph had massive right wing billboards and in Putney (I think it was) a giant sign about patriotism and prejudice, which also feeds on the same manual.
I actually despise this paper more than the trash tabloids, because at least they don't pretend to be reporting intelligent news. The Telegraph is targeted at the rich people who don't want to pay tax on their 100k salaries and don't see why they should contribute to poor people being able to make ends meet.
I believe in freedom of the press, I also think the press should self-regulate, balance their arguments and not allow hate bait speech to appear in their articles. I fully support newspapers writing about the benefit bill as an issue, so long as they back it up with evidence.
I trained as a historian, we'd have been thrown out of class even in secondary school if we couldn't pull together evidence from four or five sources to back up why we were arguing a certain point. It seems like journalism no longer requires research, source material or anything but personal conviction.
…There was a similarly disgusting article in the Guardian a while back claiming everyone who opposed the assisted dying bill was doing so on religious grounds and should not be allowed to - even though at the time 150 disability charities were the actual ones opposing, because of the real risk to disabled people if the bill wasn't at the very least robustly safeguarded.
In my view, there's no place in our society's media for either extreme of thought. People can make up their own minds better if presented with the bare facts and allowed to evaluate them for themselves.
Sidenote - people who hold these kinds of extreme opinions are usually those who have no actual knowledge of the subject, have never met any of the people directly affected, and are simply airing their privilege because they can.
