I am due for a bb assessment. This is my first renewal. My first application was accepted at once. I suffer from osteoporosis and peripheral artery disease which three yrs ago was a listed reason for a bb. But not now and this time I had to sent resent documents. Well I was diagnosed 16 yrs ago with pad and 26 yrs with osteoporosis. I have walking difficulties due to severe pain and leg cramps which stops on rest so I have to walk slow and stop and start very often. Which can take ages to get to my destination. They are not happy with my latest doctors summary which lists these conditions plus osteoarthritis in my knee. So I can walk normal for about 5 to 10 minutes sooner if walking up a-slight slope and then the pain is extremely painful. How can I demonstrate if I have to walk up and down the room where they test you. I’ll be so annoyed if they refuse me as it’s difficult to prove pain with no limping

Hi @brianne, welcome to the community. I don't have any direct experience of this I'm afraid, but I hope some of our members might be able to offer their ideas soon.

If you're not happy with the result of your assessment, you ask the council to review it. There's some guidance about that on the Citizen's Advice website:

My wife is 81 still holds a valid driving licence and suffers from multiple conditions that affect her walking any distance.

For many years she had a BB simply for when either of our daughters' took her out or drove herself.

Some 5 years or so ago she was refused a renewal.

Complained to the local authority who offered her a face to face examination at the council multi story car park but they still refused.

The reason given was entirely down to the car that she drove to the assessment centre in - our son's BMW Z4 - she had to 'fall out' to get out of it!

I now have to drive her everywhere as I also have a BB and it's a pain in the ********!
