Part time study
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to start a part-time Master’s with flexible study. I currently receive PIP and ESA (support group), and I’ve been told that the Master’s loan isn’t split into tuition and maintenance but will be spread across 2 years.
Does anyone know if starting this kind of study could affect my benefits or trigger a reassessment?
I’m not worried about a reassessment itself, but because I suffer from severe depression, the stress of going through that process feels overwhelming.
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks so much in advance.

I was just scrolling through and spotted this, saw you hadn’t had any answers. I am on a University course doing a PhD and also on New Style ESA and PIP. I told the DWP by telephone when I started the course and that told them I was getting a loan. They just noted it down and it hasn’t triggered anything like a reassessment, I’m nearly at the end of the first year now. I hope that puts your mind at rest. Nightmare getting through to ESA on the phone mind, I was on hold for hours!

Also should have said it didn’t affect my benefit amounts in any way.
