Hi,
If you put in a change of circumstances then you should get backpay.
If it was a standard review started by the DWP then they can choose whether to give you backpay or not.
The call handlers don't necessarily have access to all of this information.

I rang up in march and reported a change of circumstances and I had a text on Tuesday saying iv been awarded it so I called up to see and they said I am entitled to a back pay but not sure when and someone will contact me

Ok, in that case we can roughly calculate the backpay ourselves.
If we assume you're owed 3 months worth (March/April/May) then that's around £600 if you previously had Standard Mobility. Or £900 if you didn't have any Mobility.
You'll receive a letter within around 2 weeks to confirm the exact amount, but usually the payment arrives in the bank quicker than the letter arrives in the post.

Backpay is usually sent separately. I don't know when your next normal payment should be but if it's more than 2 weeks away then I would expect backpay before that.
