Are direct payments backdated?

Hi,
My local authority have agreed to pay me direct payments to pay for my own care.
The person meeting my care needs has been doing so for a while, and I explained all of that throughout the process.
I am just wondering if for this reason the direct payments might be backdated to when I originally requested, which was January.
Thank you for reading.

Hi @BiscuitBiscuit unfortunately it's difficult to say because each council deal with these requests individually, so it's dependant on them and hard to answer on a general level. Sorry, that's probably not ideal. Do you have any idea of when you'll receive the documentation? It might be worth giving them a call to request the award start date if that's possible.
