Hi,

My husband may be due a large backdated payment for SDP going back to 2014, he's filled in all the relevant forms etc. We are awaiting the decision now, my question is, how will this affect our UC claim with it being over the threshold for savings?

I have tried searching on here for the answer but couldn't find one so sorry if this has been answered before.

Thanks

    Hi,

As this will be over £5000, it will be disregarded for the lifetime of the UC claim.

You do still need to declare your total savings to UC in the journal. Then put the backpay amount in the 'disregard' section on the next page.

Thank you. I know i previously asked a similar question but I got the wrong details kinda. My husband isn't sure of these things and it wasn't til he received the form that we knew specifically what it was. He has had help previously filling in forms from his support worker (this specific claim has been going on for over a year) so he hasn't been sure of all the details. We've not long moved in together and got married so I've been helping him now. We still aren't sure if he will get it. I hope he does as he wants to get some tech to help him become more independent (he is blind) it will help him massively.

    Thanks

Just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes to review this possible backdated claim? They have dragged their feet for 15 months now and we filled in the IS10 forms over the phone 7 weeks ago (one for old address where my husband lived alone he was living alone for 10 years before we got together) and one for his current address with me although we knew he wouldn't get anything as I claim carers allowance for him now.

They rang today just to tell him about the claim for his current address with me and nothing about the backdated claim and now they say they have forwarded on the information, surely they should have already received it and been reviewing it?

It's just been a long time waiting for him. They even said on the phone he should have been entitled to it.

It would be very helpful to him as he would like some items to help himself become more independent.

    Sorry for the long post
