Hi everyone,

We've had a few posts now asking whether there are new cost of living payments coming out. The amount advertised is usually between £450 - £750. Sometimes they are reporting it is a cost of living payment, sometimes it is advertised as a 'boost' to specific benefits.

These are not true. There are no new cost of living payments planned for this year.

Any official government payments or changes to benefit payments will always be confirmed on the official government website:

Welcome to GOV.UK

Please do not click on links, or enter your details to any websites or texts that are reporting these cost of living or 'boost' payments.

If you're not sure if a call, text or email you have received is from an official DWP source, go to the government's website and use the contact details listed there to ask whether they have contacted you.

If you receive any suspicious texts, calls or emails, you can report them to Action Fraud:

Report a phishing attempt | Action Fraud

The government have some useful information about how to spot fraud here:

How to spot fraud - Stop! Think Fraud

Stay safe out there! 😎

It's sad that you even have to post this. The UK is a paradise for scammers in part because the DWP and employers alike both refuse to pay people enough to live on.

I mean of course there aren't, the government wants to remove money from thise who need it, more so than the Tories did.

There are local targeted (unique circumstances/ clients) grants / payments from local authorities using their House Support Funds, you don’t have to apply for. (also there’s crisis / emergency grants you may be able to apply for)

If you look up your local Council Website (or in your local paper) there may be mentions of one off money distribution.

My local council have paid directly various groups since HSF was introduced
