Zero Points

Hello all this is my first post am I'm feeling very deflated today. I started my PIP claim in December 2025, I recently got a copy of the Telephone Assessment which scored me 8 points. I got the final decision letter today and scored zero points. I'll now have to ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration but I wonder if anyone has been down scored 8 points and gone on to appeal and get the full daily living … So upset and confused right now , thanks for any help

Hi @Grae, welcome to the community. I'm so sorry your PIP claim didn't go the way you hoped. It's a tough system to work through sometimes.
Decision makers do often go with the assessment, but there are times when they change their mind and score it differently. It can vary a lot from case to case.
I hope your appeal goes well and you get the result you're hoping for.

Thanks Rosie for your kind words but I'm really hoping somebody has the real life experience of getting good pooints in the phone assessment and then getting scored a big fat Zero, Love to all

Hi, sorry to hear you’re suffering. It’s awful my first time in 2022 I had the same.
I reapplied in june23 and just got the standard on both, I didn’t know about mandatory concentration then as I obviously didn’t read the letter.
I’m in the middle of having a review now as it was only for two years.
A friend said if you get it turned down that the citizen advice will help you to go through the process of mandatory reconsideration.
Also the next call assessment you have to ask them to record it for you so you can have a copy as what’s is said in the call can sometimes not what’s on the report. ☹️1 -
mandatory consideration
Sorry 🙄 that’s me again

Dont know about anyone else, but im SICK TO DEATH OF THIS GOVERNMENT! The way i see it,is, THEY DONT LIKE PENSIONERS, hence the winter fuel being scrapped ( but U turn now in place) & i dont think they like the DISABLED PEOPLE! they are cutting money from the wrong people! i rely on my PIP ,just like others do, i know this is going off track a bit but, not all WOMEN are given HOUSEKEEPING MONEY FROM THEIR HUSBAND, SOME DONT KNOW HOW MUCH THEY EARN, if they have a VOLATILE MARRIAGE & ARE IN RECEIPT OF PIP THEN THAT IS A HUGE LIFE LINE, A LIFE LINE THAT THEYRE GOING TO LOSE. THEN IS THE GOVERNMENT GOING TO GO TO THEIR HOUSE & STICK A PLASTER ON THEM & TELL THEM EVERYTHINGS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT? NO? THOUGHT NOT!
