Can anyone tell me if they have heard of the changes the Government say they are planning to make for the new PIP assessment changes after the November 2026 changes? I have read they are going to change the whole system. I am due to be assessed in the summer of 2027 and I should pass the 4 point rule. But if they are going to put in a whole new assessment system for PIP, that will be even more stress. (I also get pension in 2029.)

Can anyone roughly say how long the new PIP asessment criteria legislation would be likely to take, ie would it be likely to be introduced and go through by summer 2027? My mental ill health is severe anyway and this new thing I read about the new assessment criteria change will be even more stress!

Hi @axab43, The most I have read is that they are planning to make some changes to the assessment criteria but there aren't any details yet. This is what Sir Stephen Timms wrote in answer to a question in parliament recently:

"We have also announced a wider review of the PIP assessment to make it fair and fit for purpose, which I am leading. We are bringing together a range of experts, stakeholders and people with lived experience to consider how best to do this. We will provide further details as plans progress."

Unfortunately, I haven't seen anything that suggests a timeline of how long it might take to come through yet. Sorry that I can't be of more help, I know it's a really worrying time for many and you won't be alone in how you're feeling about it. Hope you're coping okay.

Thank you I thought there would not be a definite timeline, but just wondered if people could say how long these changes normally take for PIP changes to go through to the point of becoming law. As in, I doubt they would try and make more changed before November 2026, and if it was afterwards, how long might it take to be rolled out. But I appreciate it isn't easy to guess that kind of thing.
