Hey there @jojoreid and welcome to the community. 😊
Technically, Sciatica isn't classed as a disability unless it majorly impacts your daily life, including work. Have you spoken to your HR dept and GP about this? I'm sure if people put their heads together you could get some reasonable adjustments put in place so you don't have to face all of those stairs, or at the very least could be given permission to use the lift.

Ahhh, ok I see. Yes it's a bit trickier for sub-contractors. I'd suggest asking the lovely people at ACAS, they're employment law specialists, so they'll know what to say. 😊

Although sciatica isn't classed as a disability I feel your pain and its a severe ouch. During frequent, at least once a month moments, in the past, where a disc has decided to explode in my spine the sciatic pain it can cause is wicked and unless anyone has experienced it it is hard to explain how horrid it is and often long lasting. Have you had tests to determine what's happening with your spine ? I wish you the best of luck with work and hope someone can help you, shocking the way you are being treated ugh 😤😊

No one can stop you from getting into a lift, you don't need permission. from anyone. I have never heard anything so daft, Just get into the lift. I use lifts all the time and never have to ask anyone's permission.
