Disabilities and Senior Options

I can't even guess how many workers I've spoken to within the Government and NHS yet I'm still as confused as ever about what housing options are available publicly and privately and how to access them. They often use buzz words we don't understand. I think that THEY THINK we're automatically dishonest. But we're very transparent. I'm Australian and ignorant how things work here or how to make things happen. My husband is Welsh. He's been my Carer for 15+ years as I have ARTHRITIC CONDITIONS + C-PTSD. My husband is on daily chemotherapy for Stage 4 Cancer. We both feel trapped in this home which previous Council OTs and SWs have deemed unsafe for us. And for me triggers terrifying PTSD from childhood. We've so many decisions to make...but without knowing what's available, or how to make things happen, we feel stuck. Who can help us? Sorry, I've said so much...venting may not be safe. But I need to safely speak.

Hi @mandyQ that all sounds incredibly frustrating for you both, especially on top of your situation. May I ask, is this a council house you presently reside in? Have you reached out to the council housing team directly at this point?

Thanks for responding. No we own half the home. The other half is owned by a long term disability charity called Advance. Although I don't feel I'm treated as an equal in any of the process.

Sorry to hear @mandyQ. You'd expect better from a Charity. That does make things a lot more complicated for you with the ownership situation. Have you spoken with the Charity at all about your concerns with the safety of the house? Is it something that can be fixed/resolved? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure I understand so I can do my best to help 🙂
