Do you think the forum has too much political/benefit discussions?
Thank you for your contribution to this discussion. I have not noticed you upsetting anyone. Take care.

Totally agree. No matter how detailed any FAQ is, people will still ask the same questions, not because they have missed something, but because they are looking for genuine connection. It’s not just about information, it’s about feeling heard.
A forum that stops listening or becomes selective in what they want to discuss doesn’t become more efficient, it just starts to feel cold.
Personally, I often skip the main thread and head straight to the category sections. It’s a great filter you only need to engage with the topics you are actually interested in. You’d be surprised how many conversations, completely unrelated to benefits or politics, are sitting there overlooked, just waiting for a response.

Thank you to everyone for your thoughtful input here. It's certainly giving us a lot to discuss. 😁

Do you think the forum has too much political/benefit discussions?
Were you able to look into this as a team?

A month or two after the UC migration has been completed, I expect benefit threads will significantly reduce.

definitely feel like there is too much politics in this forum

From the team @Bluebell21;
This is a very tricky situation, as unfortunately, where much of the discussions on the community will be regarding benefits, then politics will slip in, especially in our current climate. We have created the Current affairs category, which we were hoping more political discussions would end up, but every person will use the community differently and post in different places. Though we do try to move the very political discussions there.
Politics are a part of everyday life, but we do understand people will be looking to get away from politics for a while, for a nice natter in the coffee lounge. This is something we've been trying to address, but it's still a work in progress and the odd political discussion will slip through the net.We cannot remove political content, as it's a big part of our lives and will continue to be, but we can try to keep it in the current affairs category. Though as Kimi has said, things may calm down once the current news cycle moves away from talk of benefits.

Hi Bluebell, I couldn't change my selection but this was about "How do you think the forum could change for the better?"

Great idea @WhatThe I think members should be involved in how the forum could change for the better.

Yes I agree and to much copy paste and speculation regarding potential benefit reforms.
