Hello everyone! In February 2022 I had savings of £14,687 which was from a pensions draw down to cover an emergency. Since then £152.25 has been deducted from my payments till date June 2025. I am struggling to feed from the deductions and I don’t have any savings anywhere should they still be deducting that amount from my payments till date?

Any advice welcome please!

    Hi,

Did you ever put your new savings amount in? You should be putting the new amount in on the final day of each Assessment Period where your savings drop through another £250 bracket. (So £14,500, £14,250, etc)

You can do this yourself in the journal, unless you have a phone-only claim.

No I have never done this as strange enough I thought the deductions were to reduce the amount of savings then I realised that the deductions weren’t resulting in a change of the £14k amount. That’s when I realised something was amiss.

Do you recommend I request a refund or forego since it was my mistake?

Ok, I would recommend that you put your current savings amount in immediately, no need to wait for the end of the AP this time.

Such a large change in savings will almost certainly trigger a Job Centre appointment where you will be asked to show paper copies of current bank statements.

While you're at the JC, you should ask about getting at least the more recent deductions refunded, though you will need to show bank statements going all the way back, potentially to 2022, for that. As you genuinely didn't know about the process, I believe there is a chance of getting backpay, though legally they aren't obliged to in cases like this.
