Backdated PIP

Hello, Ive had PIP for 4 years (standard on both) and had my telephone assessment review on 3/6/25. Ive just received a phone call from a manager to confirm a couple of questions and she confirmed that I have now been awarded enhanced for both and will receive 2 years backdated pay as my conditions have deteriorated.
My current payment as they tell you on the hotline recorded message has gone from £412 to £749 a month but can anyone please tell me how quick the backdated payment will be?
Im so relieved I am finally on the correct level just anxious about the payment. Thank you in advance.

I'm confused. When was your original review date? If your review date was recent and you have just had the assessment, I can't understand the 2 years of backdated pay. The backdated pay usually is paid first. It looks like you have got Enhanced both elements from the information from the hotline. Congratulations. The decision letter is what you need.

My assessment was on 3rd June 2025 but as I had a steroid injection in 2023 and that didn't help she said I was entitled to the enhanced on both from then so I will be getting 2 years backdated payments

I have never come across this being honest.

Hello @djslapper. Unless you prompted the review by reporting a change of circumstances, they wouldn't usually pay backpay. Was it the assessor that said you should receive the 2 years backdated? If so, the assessors are not the ones that make that decision.
If they are backdating the payment, it is usually paid within 2-3 weeks.

The back payment is usually made within 3 weeks but may be sooner since in order to change tthe amount they must have been looking at your claim before.
There was a direction under the Duty of Care to revisit everyone's claim for benefits as part of the last review, where the "criteria" used were changed but not sanctioned, (passed on to the Decision Maker) and so many were on the lower rate in error.
A steroid Injection would not give you the enhanced rate, but what it is used for would, like insulin.

@Charlie_Scope No it was a decision manager who rang me and she was the one who said she was in charge of my case and who changed both rates from standard to enhanced, she then asked me how long was it that my health had deteriorated and she mentioned the steroid injection which was 2 years ago and she would backdate it till then and would I be okay getting a lump sum paid onto my bank

Ah, okay, thank you for clarifying @djslapper. It's usually 2-3 weeks while it is calculated, verified and then processed.

Thank you @Charlie_Scope I will update when I either get the payment or the letter :)
