I just wanted to share my experiences moving from PIP to ADP in Scotland, as I know what a worry these things are for us.

In Early November 2024 DWP sent me a letter to explain my PIP claim was transferring to Social Security Scotland, who would pay me ADP instead. I would be paid PIP up until 9th Feb 2025. Soon after, I received a letter from SS Scotland to say my PIP would end on 9th February 2025 and ADP would start on 10th February 2025.

On 8th March 2025 I received a further letter to tell me my review would begin on 7th April 2025. At that time, I had to chase up the review papers with SS Scotland. I did so via their chat facility. Soon after (approx the 11th April) I received the review papers. I decided to send through the post, with my supporting information. I ticked the " no change" box as nothing had changed and this is what I was advised to do,after chatting on their chat facility. I sent the signed forms back with a list of my repeat prescriptions, a letter from my Consultant detailing my conditions and how I had continued to struggle, required a great deal of support from services etc. Also, importantly, a detailed letter from my partner who also offers me the required care and support on a day to day basis. I posted everything off to SS Scotland within a few days.

I didn't hear anything until today. I received a letter dated 1st July 2025. My ADP was going to stay the same as I had been previously awarded for PIP, both elements. A further review would take place in June 2028 and I would be contacted just before, to remind me a review was coming up.

I hope this may be of help to someone.

I'm just hoping that the First Minister stays true to his word, and doesn't implement any cuts that Westminster devise.

If Scottish Labour's Anas Sarwar wins the 2026 Holyrood election, he would no doubt follow directions from his master, Starmer. Thankfully Starmer is very unpopular here.

Thank you @SophieAsh72! We don't hear a lot from people moving from PIP to ADP so we're very grateful you've shared your experience with us and I'm sure others facing the move will appreciate it too.

I'm glad to read your award has stayed the same and you weren't kept waiting too long.

Thanks @Charlie_Scope. Hopefully others will find they dont wait too long either. We'll keep our fingers crossed, re the First Minister in Scotland not implementing any cuts and of course, what happens after 2026 as @Ranald mentioned.

I’m hoping that England will look to Scotland when it comes to the Timms review and implement some compassion into the PIP system!
