Hello… I’m so hoping someone can help me, I am registered disabled, live in my own home (mortgaged) no children and l have had to migrate over to universal credit from ESA, I’ve just seen through the gov UC that I will only receive £1060.15 every month, that is a shortfall of £978.60p per month,

Why ?? when I was told I would be ok and possibly get more money not less..

It’s a massive impact on my life,

before I contacted universal credit I thought I would ask if anyone could advice on here, so I’m hoping someone can help for 24 hour me

It's not uncommon for the first UC statement to be incorrect. Sometimes an element is missing, Transitional Protection not calculated in time etc.

Which elements are listed on your statement?

    Are any deductions listed?

If you post a screenshot please ensure any personal details are blacked out.

    Thankyou Kim,

    Limited cap £423.27

    Transitional £236.74

    No deductions

What legacy benefits were you getting before to make your total of approximately £2k a month?

That's quite high for a single childless person not getting help with rent.

I can't see anything incorrect about your UC award yet.

Were you receiving ESA Support Group with Enhanced Disability Premium and Severe Disability Premium?

That was £244.65 a week, the monthly equivalent is exactly the same as your UC award £1065.15.

To convert a weekly benefit to a monthly you multiply the weekly amount by 52 then divide by 12.

SDP itself doesn't exist under UC.

Transitional Protection is essentially your SDP replacement which is I suspect where the confusion lies.

UC Standard Allowance & LCWRA pays more than the old ESA rates (approximately £700 without SDP), so the Transitional Protection makes up the difference instead of being a months worth of the old SDP.
