Hi @Catherine21 you've done amazing work so far in all you've done contacting MP's and inspiring others. It's been a very emotionally intense time over the past few weeks but so much has been achieved with the U-turns so don't forget to celebrate the wins too. Remember to take a little break to look after you. I've certainly had to. 💛

I know it doesn't resolve everything, but we've still got this Timms review and there are a lot of eyes on what they plan to introduce so I'd like to think they'll be more cautious now. I'll probably be shouting at my TV Wednesday again 🙈

I won't watch who's the speaker going to be does anyone know

I'm not sure to be honest @Catherine21. I completely understand why you're not watching. I'll be shouting at the TV for us both lol.

@Catherine21 The Deputy Speakers do not select ammendments. Irrespective of who is in the Chair, decisions on ammendments are made by the Speaker. The Chair is directed to those MPs who want to "catch the Speaker's eye" by senior officials of the House, who stand either side of the Chair.

@Catherine21 Hi,
I feel that Labour did put us all through unnecessary worry and it was distressing at times for me, because of the uncertainty for one whole year. So I do totally get it.
However, what we have achieved is definitely a better outcome with the Green Paper amendments/changes, because it could’ve been worse with Conservatives in power!0 -
As I recall, you emailed the Speaker to ask that he select the reasoned ammendment. The Speaker is only human, he consumes media like tge rest of us so you weren't "clueless". However, his decision regarding the selection of ammendment is his prerogative. He might discuss it with his Office team, including the deputies but it remains his prerogative.

Hi,
Below are a selection of the amendments.
4-point rule
Government amendment (Gov 4) removes clause 5 – the PIP 4 point rule – from the bill. If this is accepted (which it will be) it will be the end of the 4-point rule, unless it is resurrected in the Timms review which seems unlikely.
UC freeze
A new clause put forward by the government (Gov NC1) provides for the freeze to the universal health element not to apply to existing claimant, people who meet the severe conditions criteria and terminally ill patients. This was one of the government’s earlier concessions to the rebels.

I think there may be some confusion @Catherine21 as the Timms review is not complete. It's not a quick process and they've promised to do this with the disabled community by August 2026.

OOh The debate today the bill I'm watching now with hardly anyone in parliament??? Am I lost somewhere I thought today was voting on uc bill
0 -
The debate today is about the bill. Part of the bill proposal now is (because of the U-turn), that Timms will do a review. It's not been started yet. In fact earlier, an MP was asking for better understanding of exactly what the core aims of this review is. What are they focusing on to achieve so it's not yet started.

I'm confused I thought they had to decide later over universal credit
