Let’s be honest when you're disabled, dealing with health conditions or caring for someone who is, life rarely feels simple. Even “rest” takes planning when you’re juggling medication, appointments, paperwork, flare ups and a lot of other things!

To be fair, when I first heard of National Simplicity Day I was skeptical and thought “oh it’s going to be about mindfulness, meditation and minimalism etc” which can be really helpful for some people but aren’t really tools that help me when I'm in a pain flare up!

So I’m seeing this day as a day to give myself permission to just make space for whatever makes life a little easier and more….simple.

Maybe this looks like..

  • Using paper plates so you can skip the dishes
  • Rewatching the same show for the 87th time
  • Throwing one useless thing out just to feel vaguely productive
  • Hiding the mess in a cupboard and closing the door
  • Wearing your favourite t-shirt even though it probably needs an iron!

Feel free to share what you're not doing today or the tiny thing that's helped make your day a bit more simple!

I’ll be rewatching episodes of Law & Order SVU😄

An excellent day indeed! I think I may really push the boat out and order in for an iced coffee later. 😁

Mary, please make this simpler with today's date 12th July in the title!

I've never heard of this day but it recommends getting off the internet and I will soon 😉
