Hi everyone, it’s the summer holidays so I’ve been busy with my children.

just to update-I got a text from DWP saying that they expect to look at my case by 29/10/25…

I went to see a mental health nurse. To be honest it wasn’t helpful. I wanted to get help with the masking and was told to go to this certain autism organisation in my area and pay for therapy. Well I will if I get PIP… 😏

    me again.

Well I have had an awful few weeks. I have had Uvetis. I’ve gone partially sighted in one eye. I’ve an eye hospital appointment in a few weeks to find out more as I had to go to eye casualty as was in so much pain and my eye was completely blood shot.

do I contact DWP to update them about this because one of the reasonings to refuse pip was that my eye conditions where not under a consultant at the time of requesting a claim. Yet will be now. Any advice please?

Hey @Everythingzrosie sorry to hear you've been having a rough time. Can I just confirm what stage of the PIP process you're currently at? Is this for a MR?

OK thanks @Everythingzrosie I believe you can still send them information that may help your case.

@Albus_Scope ah great thank you, I will contact them, well my husband will because I hate talking on the phone… plus feel like they are trying to catch you out with how you respond. Doesn’t help the anxiety 😟

@Everythingzrosie hello my friend!! So firstly I want to say you'll be ok. So many get turned down at this stage. The MN is usually the same. So I've been in your position. I went to tribunal. Its much better. You sit in front of 3 people. 1 magistrate 1 impartial independent civilian and a medical professional in your field of disability. When you talk to people that understand the illness its better. PLEASE REMEMBER THIS. ITS IMPORTANT!! Your answers must reflect how you are on your SICKEST DAYS. They do put that on the claim form but its tiny. This entire process is meant to filter out the cheats but also to exhaust people to the point that they give up through stress. The tribunal sounds scary but its the best because no-one there is trying to save money for the DWP. Good luck with it all.

hello all. Hope your day is going ok.

so the DWP just called me and said they have reached a decision on my mandatory reconsideration. That a letter will be posted out in the next few days and I should receive it in a week or two (Royal Mail so I think she means months 🤣 ). This whole process is so confusing and full of cryptic stuff! Just say it how it is. Now more waiting…

    Hi there

I'm a CAB adviser and disabled myself and do PIP forms daily for clients . It is all about the descriptors and how your fit the tasks- it is literally like playing a game. Do not submit any more forms without getting them completed first by your local advice centre or community advice office. Contact citizens advice and ask them to do a mandatory reconsideration form for you. It can be done via a form or a letter. The DWP usually allow a month for this but will extend if you cant get a CAB appt quickly. If this fails you can go for an appeal. I advise you to get as much evidence as possible from your medical practitioners. Good luck and don't panic many cases are overturned on MR or appeal.

Guessing you haven't had the letter yet, but hope you get good news.
One of my sons was switched from DLA to PIP and got zero points after the assessment (Because he sat and said nothing as I told them he would) We did an MR and he was changed to Enhanced on both, so it is possible for a complete change. Hope it happens for you.

@onlymeagain no letter yet, thank you. I’m dreading when my son turns 16 and needs to swap to pip. I’m glad to read that your son got what they were entitled to in the end. The process is brutal and very underhanded.
