Last Day of Exercise This Week (Photos)

Took it a little easier today, it's hot as all hell. Did just over 5 miles today heading towards Houghall Farm and back.
Stopped here for a quick picnic (Ginsters chicken slice)
Then headed down this trail that a mate said I'd never get the wheelchair down...
I don't know what he was on about, it was perfectly doable and I'm using the slickest tyres money can buy (Schwalbe Ones). People vastly underestimate me.
Anyway... A quick spot of nature photography -
Then head back towards Durham to head home.
This is the old Durham swimming baths. I remember swimming there 20 years ago. Fallen to ruin now.
So this weekend I plan to do absolutely nothing except sunbathing on my front lawn 😎🌞
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Oh that looks beautiful, thanks for sharing @Wheeled_Weapon I'm very glad you got to prove your mate wrong. 😆

It seems I'm constantly proving people wrong 🤣

Sometimes the best way to exist is purely out of spite, to prove the naysayers wrong. 😉

I love a natural archway! Lots of lovely nature xx

That photo doesn't do it justice. It was a natural tunnel, looked like a fairytale. I'll be going back there with my proper camera.

#Wheeled Weapon,
Good Morning Wheeled Weapon,
Once again thank you for sharing you beautiful photos! Shame the swimming pool has been left in ruins, is there a newer one locally or has it just been left because of lack of use? Despite being a wheelchair user would you be able to use a swimming pool for exercise or 'therapy'? I am a poor swimmer, learned as an adult but find that I cannot put my face in the water nor can I do proper strokes with my arthritic shoulder, so haven't been to a swimming pool for ages.
I too like the natural archway. It is good that you were able to access the route when others doubted, even I can see that a wheelchair can manage the pathway. You have a great talent for capturing nature.
I'm delighted for you that the weather was so lovely yesterday for you, it was quite hot here near south coast as well.
Enjoy your restful weekend and don't forget the sun protection!

There were a few big tree roots to hop over & some very weird, steep cambers so not every wheelchair user would have made it solo. However, this guy has known me for years, he's seen me get a chair up, down and through some tricky places. I even own a set of offroad wheels with mountain bike tyres on them but I only really need them when it gets muddy out.
I get my chair through all sorts of places.
Old Durham baths, there's a lot of politics and conspiracy as to what's been done (or not) to that building. There's a modern, new swimming baths in Durham now but it's a shame seeing that building disintegrate.
I was always a strong swimmer growing up but never tried since being in a wheelchair until a couple of years ago. I threw myself in the sea to see if I could still swim and luckily I could.
I love the feeling of being submerged in water. Even if I couldn't swim, it'd be worth going to the baths just for that. Sea water is a whole other level though.

#Wheeled Weapon,
How did you manage to navigate what appears to be a very narrow bridge? A lot of skill and determination, I guess.
It's nice to know that there is a new swimming pool, a good way to stay fit for lots of people, less enticing for those of us with less confidence though. Shame they have let the 'old' one just deteriorate with seemingly no plans what to do with it. My nearest pool is about eight miles away. I used to take my sons there for their swimming lessons but could never get really into the swimming even though I wanted to. The pool is open to general public but is mostly used for lessons, swim clubs, etc… as I said, found it difficult to learn to swim (did manage the 25 meters badge though).
You sound a bit like my eldest, he was about four months when his father and I took him to introduce him to the water, my husband climbed in and I passed the baby down to him but son had other ideas he launched himself out of his Dad's arms and took off! One of my Grandson's apparently did a similar thing when his Mum took him for his first lesson! You were brave to launch yourself into the sea from presumably your wheelchair. Perhaps now, I'm retired, I should give it another go?
Another superb photo. Thank you! Hope you enjoy the rest over the weekend and don't get sunburned.
