Returning to work

At some point in the future, I would like to get back to work, maybe just for two days a week.

I won’t do this until I can easily walk further than 20 metres and sit for longer periods without pain.

This in itself would mean my PIP would be downgraded to standard mobility and likely my daily living would also then be paid at the lower rate, as my recovery progresses.

I can budget for these changes as I will be earning.

However, here is my question that I cannot find an answer to;

Can my wife still be my carer, even though I will be at work 15 hours a week?

She would still be providing a care element for me for more than 35 hours a week. Helping me to shower/bathe each day, clearing up, cleaning, washing, meal preparation, ironing, taking me to appointments, motivating me to do my physio and generally keeping an eye on me. (I have a serious spinal injury) Her earnings are within the eligibility criteria for carers allowance.

My assumption is that even though I’m at work 2 days a week, I still need the care outside of those hours.
