Claiming LCWRA and "hopefully" going back to work...
Hi,
I have been off work for the last year and assessed to have LCWRA. I am starting my own business and will be hopefully doing some jobs around my town but not very much, probably about £150 per week. My question is this: Does my net profit come off of the total amount of UC that I currently receive (including the extra amount for the LCWRA), or do I lose that instantly as I'll be working again and it would come off of the base amount?
Also, if it all becomes a bit too much which I suspect it might, if I lose the LCWRA component, how difficult is it to get that back again!
Thanks

UC is a benefit made up of different elements including LCWRA. These elements are added up before any deductions are made.
If you claim Housing Element you can earn £411 before the standard deduction is made.
If you don't claim HE then you can earn £684 before the standard deduction is made.
The standard deduction is £0.55 for every pound earned.
You can put different figures into a benefits calculator to give you more of an idea.

Oh that's great thank you! It's taken me the best part of a year to be awarded what I am entitled to with reconsidersations and tribunals so really didn't want to go through all that again when in all likelihood, I will be working for a month before I have another episode that will put me back. Also sorry I didn't use ai for this reply so my apologies if it doesn't make much sense but have ran out of times I can use it today!!
