Maximus Pip

Very worried for a family member having a text from Maximus re her PIP Review that was sent back December, award End Date this July 16th. Extension letter came a few weeks ago, Then yesterday this Maximus text saying we are dealing with it & May need Consultation :-( She'd Never Cope, She's always had Paper Based from initial application 2019, to 1st Review 2022(Review conducted In House by DM)both 3yr awards.
They're aware the stress of the Possibility of a Consultation caused her an attempt on her life during original process and her MH is just as damaged today. We wrote Nothing has Changed at this Review stage, explained how She still struggles etc & Updated Evidence was sent(We've More now from Psychiatrist inc new Diagnosis C-PTSD & ASD which goes a long way to explain her lifelong Struggles). I'll send them this & her Care Plan in the Hope they'd conduct a Paper Based Assessment, I'll request this but I know they can decline 🙏
I see a Dr's input supporting this might be helpful stating her risk of Overwhelming Psychological Distress, a symptom Already Acknowledged in her PIP Award. Can anyone tell me if Maximus gave Them a PB, even through a Reasonable adjustment like this due to MH, or any reassurance they May do, given her Mental state/No Changes/& Fresh CMHT Input/Care plan/C-PTSD Not Engaging/Diagnosis Autism which is obviously Lifelong.
(I'm aware it's Not Diagnosis Based, but this is Supporting Evidence).
I'm really Suprised they Outsourced it with No Changes? 😢 The MH Evidence will be emailed Monday in the Hope they'd do the PB.
Appointeeship isn't a Possibility.
Many thanks. x

Most reviews are now being handled by third parties like Maximus, so I'd not worry there. It sounds like you've got plenty of medical evidence there @emc123 which will definitely help the review. Paper based assessments are usually given when they feel they have enough evidence from yourself that they don't need to ask any further questions. So if you've had paper based assessments in the past and you've specifically asked for one, then fingers crossed they'll go with your wishes. Though we always recommend not to write "no change" as the assessors often don't look at previous files, so it's best to always treat reviews as brand new applications.
As you've mentioned, something from a medical specialist stating that a phone/video assessment would cause great psychological distress and could lead to harm would also help. Ultimately it is all down to the assessors, but it sounds like you have a very strong case for a paper based assessment there. 😊
