Did Anyone Else Have The Look?

My mother never shouted or hit us ever, but she had this look when she was not pleased with something you had done.
Last time my brothers and I had a family meal we were talking about her, and one of my brothers said do you remember 'the look'. We all did.

Mine had a special phrase for us around anyone not in the immediate family which meant it's private/change the subject! So embarrassing those words then the sudden silence.

Yep.
That 'look' was enough to instantly halt any shenanigans in which you were involved!
The worst incident I recall was my mother was busy telling a neighbour that my father shared the neighbour's view on a situation. Being seven years old, I knew this was not true. So I piped up saying 'That's not what Dad says!'
The look, followed by a lengthy lesson on diplomacy/acceptable white lies followed. 😳😂
