If you worked before claiming ESA then it's possibly part CB.
If you never worked and claimed Incapacity Benefit as a young person, or ESA as a young person in certain years, it's likely at least part CB.
If you get more than £140.55 a week it's definitely at least part IR.
The only way to know for sure is to call and ask.
If you are on both Income Related and Contributions Based, upon migration the IR is replaced by UC and the CB converts automatically into New Style ESA.
New Style ESA is then deducted in full from your UC award.
UC is replacing 6 income related benefits and CB ESA is not a benefit replaced by UC.

New style esa gets deducted from UC award, but you still get the payments from NS ESA so you are no worse off.
It's the same amount of money, paid by NS ESA & UC instead of just UC.
