Hi, my name is RenaissanceADHD31!

Hello everyone,
Just joined the community to get some support and advice.
Had to finish work, 30 years in Social Care (Charity sector) and finding myself on the other side of the fence.
I knew it was hard but not this hard you need a degree in navigating some of these systems all at a time you aren't doing well !

Hey there @RenaissanceADHD31 and it's a warm welcome from me too. 😊
If you need help with anything, please just ask away and we'll all do our best to support you.
Or if you just fancied a light hearted chat, or a few easy games, I'd recommend checking out the coffee lounge and the games den.1 -
Welcome to the community. I'm sorry you've come to the other side of the fence. It's not fun and can be more frustrating for those that have seen the other side. I used to be a nurse and then i went from nurse to patient. I still find it hard for my brain to see and believe the switch and that I'm now the one in need.
Hope you have a good day and find good support within this community

thank you.
Its the frustration I find overhwleming, I mean I was a manager for 15 years and I have found the systems, benefits, assessments really tough, so anyone who isn't OK with I.T. Or knows the way around the criteria etc it must be a mine field. I have struggled so much at times and had to have family support me. I just kept thinking, what about those people who haven’t worked Health or Social care, or management, or don’t have support.
If you are poorly, ill and have a disability you shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get support and money to live. It is infuriating.
i thought about going to volunteer for CAB, but when it came to the start of the week I was due to start the training i spiralled, panic attacks and mental health sky rocketed and plummeted, I am just not ready and may have to face that I may never be.Social Care has fried me to a crisp !
Glad I found this forum.
doesn't feel as lonely now0 -
I'm glad we can be of some comfort to you @RenaissanceADHD31 30 years working in social care is enough to make anyone burn out, so please, be gentle with yourself and just don't rush things as it's a huge change and that kind of thing will take time to process.❤️
