Hello :)

Hello everyone, I wanted to introduce myself as I joined this community today. I am 33 years old and I have Spastic Cerebral Palsy. I found out about having CP when I was 24 years old. It affects my right side of my body, mostly pain, spasms and stiffness in my ankle, calf, lower back and hips. I am also Dyslexic. For the last 10 years, I have been working in the Media Industry, but due to my most recent contract ending, I am not currently working. In my spare time, I like to read, play video games, spend time in nature, cultural and arty stuff, going to the cinema/going to the theatre and anything related to food. I have noticed in the last year the toll my CP is having on my body and would like to connect with people who will be able to understand and relate to what I am going through. Please do feel free to say hello, and I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone

Hi @lillymay88
Welcome to the community. I'm Sara one of the CP Specialists at Scope and I'm part of the CP Network team.
It takes time to process a CP diagnosis, especially when it's given at an older age. But there are communities online and face to face, you can connect with. They will truly understand what you are experiencing and offer support and advice.
Our team host monthly zoom meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, between 6pm and 7pm. It's a space to chat with others and be part of specific topic discussions. I've included information about our network and the link for you to consider joining. CP network
There is also a wonderful Facebook page called Cerebral Palsy Adult Advice UK.
You mentioned you're experiencing more pain as you are getting older. There is a condition called post impairment syndrome which affects adults with CP as they age. I've included a great post about this condition, written by @Richard_Scope Post impairment syndrome and CP
I hope this information helps you to understand more about your CP and we would love to meet you through these communities.
Kind regards.

Hi @lillymay88
Great to have you join us here in the community. I'm sorry to hear that your contract has ended. Are you looking to do something similar or are you thinking of a change in career direction?
Scope's Employment Services might be useful when you are ready. And like my colleague @SaraC_Scope has said, please feel free to join us at the CP Network.

@Richard_Scope Thank you for your help, advice and additional information. I have joined the CP network and will look into the Scope Employment Service. I have thought of changing my career, but I am not opposed to finding something similar to what my last role was.
If I have any questions or need any more information, I will let you know :)
