Disability Discrimination on ITV This Morning

on Thursday 10th July 2025 Alice Beer the presenter was talking about hose pipe bans and then she went on to say how most people are compliant. Then, and this is her direct quote, she said,
“Apart from blue badge holders will be out in their gardens” then she slightly raised her eyebrows and implied while gesturing with her hands she was watering with a hose pipe.
I am shocked! The minimum should be a National apology. I contacted Ofgem and tried various other bodies who proved to be uncontactable, so I rang my MP whose secretary has said she will write to ITV on my behalf,
is there anything else I should be doing please? As this must not be swept under the carpet and the piece be removed from itv. Some accountability is needed as it is blatant discrimination on a national tv.
Thank you

Are you sure that's what Beer said? That 'joke' doesn't make any sense to me.

hello ranald
yes I am absolutely positive that is exactly what she said on National tv, and I have given an exact quote word for word.
Thankfully I was not the only person in the UK to have heard her say it. There are witnesses
Do you have a suggestion on where else I can share this? As that is what I have asked the community for, thank you.

PS to Ranald
It is not a joke
There is nothing funny about disability discrimination

I know that, and is why I put 'joke' in inverted commas.

A very strange occurrence, not sure why she would say that, as it doesn't make sense.

It's strange how this kind of talk seems to be allowed, where if she said a particular race instead of blue badge holders, or if it was a man who said women instead of blue badge holders there'd be outrage and it wouldn't be allowed at all.

I agree it is awful , and to say that on national tv.
I will share the letter when I receive it from my MP once he has received a reply from the head of ITV

Did Ofcom say they were investigating?

Ross 1975
thank you for your input
it Is shameful and there should be outrage regardless as it is discrimination

@Ross1975 But what does it mean, Ross? It's too subtle for me.

Ranald thank you for your input

Yes Ofgem have elevated it up to their content and standards group who will put their findings up online after 15 working days . They don’t reply to individuals apparently

Apologies I meant Ofcom in my last post NOT Ofgem! Sorry

It does seem like the disabled community are the latest punching bag, which is stupidly unfair.
IF you wanted to make a complaint, I'd also recommend getting in touch with ITV themselves, even if your MP is writing to them. I do think it's great your MP is stepping up like that, I love to see it.0 -
I knew what you meant, lol.

Is Alice Beer the one who does those history programmes? I think they're interesting. I won't watch anything else from her, unless she's held accountable and she apologises.
I fail to see the correlation between being a blue badge holder and hosepipe bans.

That's Alice Roberts.

no she isn’t the history woman.
Alice Beer is a presenter on This Morning programme - she has a consumer slot
I agree with you - she must be made to be accountable and at the very least apologises
