My back garden.
This is a poem I have just wrote. Its about my relaxing time….. Which we all need.
My back garden is a thing of joy
It changes every day
Is it all about that morning glow
Or, is it as the night falls
The colours are whatever you imagine
the sky as, black as ink,
as Sun falls into red, blue, and pink.
The last rays fight into the sky.
The sky blends into a starry Sky
Like the diamonds glistening
against a jet black sky
The moon, a bright disk reflecting the sun that has long since gone.
But never fear, enjoy the night for what it is
As the cool breeze blows through the tree.
The rustle of leaves and the sound of the wind
Is Gabriel's horn, saying, a storm is on the way.
I sit here thinking of the day gone by
What have I done? Was I always right
Should I have admitted I was wrong
Is it too late to right that wrong?
I fell asleep in that chair,
the sounds around me like a dream gone by.
Oh my, it's 4.00 o'clock, where is the moon
It was by here, and now, it's way over there.
That inky black sky is coming alive
The rays of Dawn, a flood of colour.
The light greys are now turning a pale blonde
each second, a change of colour.
If I had not fallen asleep
I would have missed all this
as the rays wake up the dawn chorus.
Another day to enjoy the trees.
I love to be up at this time
A pot of tea, that aroma is divine.
Two slices of doorstop toast with a lashing of real butter
That smell is making my stomach grumble.
Now this is what life's all about
It can't get any better
Oh, hang on, what's that sound?
It's my wife joining the chorus sound.
Why don't you join me and pour a cup
To find that she had eaten my toast.
Oh, come on, love, I've been here all night.
I know, so get up and make your own.
With all this going on
The Sun is up, the mist has gone.
We both sit and look out into the trees
We have years of this because it's our back garden.

Brought a smile to my face. I, too, love the colours and atmosphere of the changing hours throughout the day and night.

Hi @onebigvoice absolutely loved this. Had a little giggle at the line "I know, so get up and make your own."
Also, hope you don't mind but removed your name to protect your identity as an anonymous forum 🙂

My garden is a thing of joy
It allows me to get out and enjoy
The back ache bending down, when I try to weed the ground
in buying 2 bags of premium compost they weigh 25 kgs each.
how do I get it out the bag let alone carry it from the car.
Reaching up above my head, I think I have twisted my neck
I heard a funny sound, only I'm not laughing, as now the pain is sharp
Why did I try to do that, you know it will cause that
I'm not as young as I used to be, I don't need to work harder, just smarter.
Hello son, I gave him a ring, are you doing anything?
I was going to light the Barby, would you like to relax in my garden?
I've bought some sausages and some burgers, I've even got minted lamb Kofte
Some one inch steaks and loads of buns, just need someone to fill there tums.
I've got some cider and some largers, the umbrellas up
So what you waiting, for just come up.
Oh, by the way I have a small job for you, so bring tyhe mower and the strimmer.
Some like you, it won't take long, by the time you've done that the plates will be full.
Who's knocking at my door, hang on, I'm still on the phone
Hello son, what took you so long?
I normally haven't finished the first verse.
So now your here, let beging, what do you want first, or is it a gin.
Every one can enjoy their garden big or small, I found that I added a bird feeder to the garden and now fill it two times a day. They only need to here my voice and they are there. I have two resident Robins who no matter were I am in the garden they are there weeding out the bugs and worms. I have also had him sitting in my hand eating seeds from that and now because the sparrows ( and I haven't seen sparrows for ages) sort out what they want and flick the seed on tyhe decking for the Blue Tits, and finches, we also have two Green wood Peckers in early morning and one that even I didn't know what it was. I have found out (through Google) its a South African King Fisher, the same as ours but its pink and brown where ours is blue and green.
How do you spend your days? I retired through ill health many years ago, and I do have difficulty with some tasks, BUT don't be negative, just take you time and work out a plan.
This means copious amounts of Tea, and Toast, and a **** or two, (I gave up smoking 15 years ago) but I have one when I want one not through bordom.
By the way I like your picture, will see if I can take some of my jungle.

I wonder why some plants seem to up & die?
I fed them, watered them, & they pleased my eye
Yet they wilted & disappeared from view
N'ere to be seen when Spring came in anew.
Now amidst another flowering season
I think I might just have found the reason….
It's to buy more plants, well that's my excuse
When taken to the garden centre, & there let loose.
So more plants this morning were chosen & bought
Osteospermums, perennials, oh, perhaps more than I thought.
I've been busy potting up, & now my aching is worse
But new plants are always worth it I'm saying in verse.
_____________________________________________________________________
All true. My son took me to the garden centre today for compost, but he knows me rather well, so asked if I wanted anything else. I have a weakness for osteospermums, but they didn't have any, so he took me down into town where we found 3 (& some other plants!)

Its not about the aches and pains. Its about getting out in the sun light.
But I enjoy my self just as much in the rain, as I have a 40 foot poly tunnel, in one of 8 gardens.
When I moved here he said it came with a big garden but I didn't realise how big.
At the back garden it goes up a rise and into a path about 70 Yards long opening into 4 1/2 Acres of woods and clear areas. A two storey tree house with a fire pit, flat camping area, and a 20 foot swing for those that want a challange off the side of the tree house that when out on the up side is about 40 feet off the ground as the ground dips away from you, on the other side another 40 pine double door lodge, with Trampoline, tripple swing, fire pit, log burner stove inside, to name some I can remember.
Haven't been down their for a month since I have enough trying to control the landscape of the gardens around the house, I am the end of a close, and the house used to be a small holding but the back section was sectioned off because it was to much for him.
I am burnt to a cinder, and loving it. I call it rust, since every time I go out their lately it rains…..
Great poem by the way. More please……. and from others, including newbies.
