Hi, my name is Angoebabe2 I have a SSP1 query
My husband was placed on sick leave on 25 Sep 2024 and stopped receiving SSP on 28 March 2025 (Date given by manager). He asked many times for SSP1 so that he could claim ESA.. It never arrived. Was given the excuse it's in the post. Saturday we received SSP1 form.
My husband is now unemployed and waiting for Ill Health Retirement.
His job sent him his SSP1 form, but have dated it from Sep 2024 to 16 May 2025 (last day of employment)
Between 28 March 2025 to 16 May 2025 He received no sick pay leaving us very little to live on.
On his last month he received owed Holiday Pay which helped to pay some of our bills..
Has his SSP1 form been filled out correctly?
We phoned his job and they say it's correct.

Hi @Angoebabe2 was this in the section 17 "Please tell us the start and end dates of the payment" please?

Where it says: About the employee on SSP1 (No, 17) from 27 Sep 2024 to 16 May 2025
On his April wage slip he received £188.40 SSP. Take home pay for month £176.73

Hi @Angoebabe2 I'm certainly not a legal expert, but that doesn't seem right if the end date for SSP1 cover is denoted as the 16th May. In my mind, that should mean that payment is covered up to that date. It might be worth speaking to someone at either Turn2us or Citizens Advice who's advisors might have a bit more experience with this.

Hi Holly, Thank you for your help. I called Citizens Advice, who then told me to call ACAS, who then told me to call HMRC Statutory Team. HMRC said the information on SSP1 is wrong and if ESA were to look at it they would not backdate payments. Have to call them back tomorrow with my Husband so they can generate a new SSP1.

Oh gosh, sorry. Sent around the houses a bit there. I'm pleased you've got to the bottom of it though. It definitely seemed that was the case. Hope things go ok tomorrow.
