I got a call today at 10:48 am and unfortunately I missed it. Then I got a text message from the DWP saying "Personal Independence Payment would like to talk to you about your recent appeal request. We will call you at 11:30 AM today".

However I waited all day but they didn't call me back. I made some calls to PIP on a different phone to ask what it was about and they said they see an outbound call going out but they don't know what it's for.

Does anyone know what this is about? Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry by that logic you could say that about anyone who makes a forum post on this site. I was simply asking if anyone went through a similar experience and what it meant for them so I could get a better picture of what is happening to me. Thanks anyway.

That’s a very snippy reply to someone helpfully answering your post.
You already state that it is about your appeal so it could be a number of things but until you speak to the relevant person, anything we say is speculation. As Carpy stated it’s impossible to know what DWP definitively want.

However, even a quick google search will come back with info like the following.

The DWP may contact you regarding your PIP (Personal Independence Payment) appeal for a few reasons. They might be seeking clarification on information related to your claim, potentially leading to a revised decision in your favor. It's also possible they are considering offering a settlement to resolve the appeal, or they may need to gather further information before presenting their case to the tribunal.

    Here's a more detailed breakdown:

    • Seeking Clarification:The DWP might have questions about your claim that weren't fully addressed in the initial application or mandatory reconsideration.
    • Potential for Revised Decision:If the DWP can resolve any ambiguities or discrepancies in your case, they might be willing to change their decision in your favor.
    • Offer to Settle/Lapse Appeal:The DWP may offer a revised award, potentially leading to a settlement where you withdraw your appeal. This can be a positive outcome, but it's crucial to understand the terms and ensure it aligns with your needs.

Doesn’t cost anything to be nice in replying to someone, even if you feel the reply wasn’t helpful to you.

I'm sorry if my response came off as rude or unkind, it is never my intention. I have autism therefore I can speak very brashly.

However, I do still feel like the first response was unhelpful and almost pointless. No discussion can come from it which was the purpose of this post. Yes I agree it is up to speculation, though I am certain someone has a story to tell if it ever happened to them about this specific stage.

Your breakdown was more in line with what I feel is more suitable for a forum such as this. I did Google about this previously, however only a few of the cases were anecdotal and that was all I was looking for.

Thanks very much for your detailed breakdown, it gives me a better idea of what might be going on. I am sorry again if I sound snippy, it is just the way I speak.

Hopefully when you manage to speak to someone about this they will give you the answers you need.
It can be frustrating waiting for things to happen, and I can sympathise with staying in waiting for an arranged call that never materialises as I have had this happen to me.

Hopefully you hear something tomorrow on the run up to the weekend so you can relax knowing what they want.

And who knows, hopefully you maybe get a good resolution to this in your favour without the need for an appeal at all.

Good luck, and please let us know how it went.
