Advance payments UC

I have a few questions about migration esa/UC.

I have had a bit of a nightmare, but finally got the ID home visit sorted. I keep checking my UC log in.

And it now says I can take an advancement of up to £2082.13 if this is based on my first UC I am £94.39 short. As my ESA every 2 wks/HB every 4 wks is £2176.52 ( this incs my rent & all ESA premiums etc).

Or have I been misinformed or misunderstanding it all.

I've been awake since 3am trying to calculate this. I have been so stressed with it all.

Then I have my PIP review next, I just cant switch off..…

Thanks for any advice x

The amount you can take as an advance can fluctuate, treat it is an indicator not the figure you will definitely get from UC.

If you are due Transitional Protection this is calculated separately once UC has all the information they need.

You are also calculating a legacy benefit amount based on 28 days, UC is based on 30 days.

To convert a weekly benefit into a monthly you multiply the weekly amount by 52 then divide by 12.

I know it's hard but the best thing now is to sit tight and wait for that first payment statement.

Now I am totally confused? Multiple the weekly & divide by 12. Does that include my rent? But I have to pay my rent every 4 wks, regardless of how UC pay.

Its been going on for so long & then being hit with a PIP review at the same time, I really cant switch off. I worry constantly about rent, bills etc making sure all will be covered

    Thanks for reply.

    Yes that includes the rent.

When comparing UC award to legacy benefits, the legacy benefits need converting as advised.

UC is a monthly payment based on 30 days entitlement, so you will get 30 days of rent each payment, not 28 days.

I am also charged rent weekly, I just send the whole payment once a month then when those months come around where there are 5 Mondays, the money is either already in the rent account to pay it, or I've found the last 1/3rd to top up to an extra week is only a few days away with my next UC payment.

I know that sounds complicated, but once you get used to and understand the UC payment cycle which is different to legacy benefits, it isn't scary or stressful.
