NHS Pension

Hi All
I joined the community last year and not been on much because of Flare ups and life in general
But I just wanted to give an update because the lovely community in here gave me great advice when I put in for my Pension and was turned down on it
I was medically retired last year from my NHS job if 20 year although I had a few elements going on the main One at the time was fibromyalgia the constant fatigue and pain and brain fog
Anyway after I put in for my pension and the Occupational Health Doctor saying on my report he doesn’t think I’d get better although some treatment might help with symptoms I was turned down told I didn’t meet Tier 1 or 2 so couldn’t get my pension on I’ll health grounds
I’ve had a tough time over Money especially while being on benefits and not able to work with a mortgage to pay I was given up on my Pension and thought when I’m 55 il just have to draw it out that way and since last year I’ve also been diagnosed with Erythmoligia and a under active thyroid next week I go for a scan on my neck because there is a lump there also diagnosed with ADHD
So I thought I’d try and appeal my pension decision and if all else fails just claim it because I’m now 55 but lose what ever % on it
I sent all the new evidence of even a letter from my Rheumatologist saying I can’t work anymore I listened to some advice I got of someone on here when I got turned down and I went through all the reasons why they turned me down and answered all the questions it’s was all probabilities with this Dr last year saying oh she’s due to go on a pain management plan she might get better or oh different medication she could try that ect or even new medication might come out and that will help her
So I put in my Appeal a year later and only waited Two weeks and couldn’t believe the letter I received back saying I had been awarded Tier 1 and meet Tier 2 so I’m getting the Tier 2 pension but what shocked me when reading through it all
It wasn’t for all the new evidence I put in or new diagnosis the Doctor dealing with my case said I should of got it last year when I first applied and unlike his colleague he’s not going on probabilities and more on evidence he did say even though I have been diagnosed with other conditions since leaving work he’s not took them into account because I should of got the Pension on fibromyalgia last year then described case studies about Fibromyalgia and how it effects people so my big long message is please don’t give up this Doctor went against His colleague I honestly couldn’t believe it
Hope you all have a lovely day and if anyone is going through anything similar I hope this helps and I’m here to help
I was terrified putting my appeal in because I was so worried they would turn me down again I don’t think i could mentally handle it if they did because I’m Mentally and physically exhausted x

Hello @Edge10 , I'm sorry you've gone through this for so long but am so very pleased for you that you've been able to get your pension. It's heartening to read and I'm sure inspiring for anyone else going through this! Well done to you for keeping on it too! Good luck for your scan next week too. With very warmest wishes to you.
