What’s best for partner

With UC it's not about hours worked but money earned.
As she has a dependent child on her claim, she has a work allowance of £411.
This is the amount of money she can earn before UC make the standard deduction of £0.55 for every pound earned.
If she earns under £411 no deduction is made.
For anything over £411 she will be deducted as above off her UC award.

aww ok is that per week that allowance or per month

if it’s minimum wage job how many hours can she do till the £411 sorry not good at adding

The work allowance is per month.
Perhaps there is an online wages calculator you could find by using a search engine, which would do the necessary calculation.

how does my partner apply for carers element for me?

She needs to log onto her UC Journal, select Report a Change, Caring for Someone, and fill in the details.

does the work allowance still be £411 if she works? Also does she have to look for work if she gets carers element?

As previously advised, as she has a dependent child on her claim she has a work allowance of £411.
If she gets Carers Element then she should be classed as a carer and not required to look for work.

sorry to ask another question would this cause a review of my lcwrca or pip ?

No it would have no impact on your personal UC or PIP claims.

do I have to do anything when she applys for carers element?

No, all she needs to do is report the change via her UC Journal. That's it.

Hi @Abcd1988 unfortunately from what I can see, you aren't able to claim carers element when on statutory sick pay.

she applied for carers element on universal credit yesterday what would I be best saying to her to do?

If she isn't eligible then it won't be awarded. So I don't see that she needs to do anything.
