Will it affect our benefits if my homeless son uses our address for his UC?

hi my son has lost his job and his girlfriend threw him out , unfortunately he can’t stay with us, so he is homeless but wants to use our address to claim universal credit until he gets a job , will this affect our benefits, he says it won’t because he asked someone, thanks for listening

Hi @sharron69, welcome to the community. Sorry to hear your son is having such a difficult time. Has he got somewhere safe to stay while he gets sorted?
He can use a 'care of' address if he's homeless and not able to give somewhere permanent. This shouldn't affect your benefits, but they may ask for some proof that your he is not living with you:
Universal Credit if you're homeless - GOV.UK
If you don't feel comfortable doing this, sometimes the local job centre will be able to act as the address for his claim. He would just need to ask about it when he applies.
